You don't choose your art....

Bishop Tutu famously said:

"You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them"

Well, the same can be said of art and artists. You don't choose your art, your art chooses you. We cannot wake up one morning and say "I think I'll paint the Sistine Chapel". Either you are Michaelangelo or you aren't. You can't "decide" to be an artist or creative. The gift is within you. You can discover it, or nurture it, or hide it under a basket. But you can no more "decide" to be an artist than you can "decide" to be invisible.

What we all have to do is find the artist within us and let them do what our creator wanted us to do and what we are truly capable of. As I have moved along in life I have discovered that inside me is a photographer who was always there, just well hidden for quite a few years. Well, now the inner artist is out and wow, is it great to be truly alive as a creative artist in this millenium. Look out world!

So don't waste your life "wishing it were so", let it out! Be what you are truly capable of being!
